Sunderland outcast Emanuele Giaccherini could move to Watford in the summer, according to HITC,
The 31-year-old has struggled to adapt to the Premier League following his £6.5 million move to Sunderland from Juventus, spending last season on loan in his native Italy with Bologna. With just one year remaining on his contract, it is thought that Sam Allardyce is keen to try and offload the high-earning winger for a fee this year rather than potentially losing him for nothing next summer.
Giaccherini has already been linked with a permanent move to Bologna – where he has scored seven goals in 28 games – as well as Serie A rivals Lazio and Fiorentina.
Rumours of Watford’s interest come following their appointment of Walter Mazzarri as their new Head Coach. An Italian himself, he has already started looking at potential transfer targets and is considering making a cut-price £1.5 million move for his fellow countryman.
Any potential deal is likely to come following the conclusion of Euro 2016 due to Giaccherini’s involvement in the Italy national team.
