Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is a transfer target for Manchester United, according to Scott Wilson of The Northern Echo.
Whilst David De Gea is clearly Man United’s first-choice goalkeeper, new manager Jose Mourinho is apparently looking for a better backup option and has been given good reports from the club’s scouts who watched Pickford as he played for England U21s in the recent Toulon Tournament.
However, Sunderland are not keen to let the goalkeeper leave and are apparently considering making him their number one next season.

The Black Cats hold all the cards in terms of Pickford’s future as they signed him to a new four-year deal in January, meaning he’s under contract at the Stadium of Light until 2020.
Sam Allardyce is said to be a big admirer of Pickford, hence why he recalled him early from a recent loan spell with Preston North End, although Vito Mannone also did well for his side.
