Sunderland are interested in signing defender Neven Subotic from Borussia Dortmund, according to a report from Scott Wilson of The Northern Echo.
The Serbian defender is looking to leave Dortmund this summer after falling out of favour and, according to Wilson, Sunderland are one of the sides who are interested in bringing him to England.
The Bundesliga side have reportedly made it known that they are willing to let the 27-year-old leave on a permanent transfer, but they will consider letting him leave on a season-long loan, something that Sunderland would be very interested in.

Of course, if a side take him on loan and he does well, they can make the deal permanent the following summer. If he fails, they can opt not to take him, thus lessening the risk involved.
Subotic moved to Dortmund from Mainz in 2008 and has made over 200 appearances for the club.
