Sunderland have reportedly offered a contract to free agent Jeremy Pied. The French defender is looking for a new club having left French side Nice last season.
France Football report that the player has two offers from both Sunderland and West Ham to move to Premier League while St Etienne are also chasing his signature.
Big Sam is known to be in the market for a right-back with Billy Jones falling out of favour and DeAndre Yedlin returning to Tottenham following his season-long loan spell despite a permanent deal being explored.
Pied is predominantly a right-back but he has just as easily slotted in at left-back too, and has even featured on the right wing on occasion too. He has similar characteristics to Yedlin and Patrick Van Aanholt, although Allardyce will be hoping the Frenchman is more astute defensively.

Last season he made 33 appearances for Nice, providing three assists. Defensively he contributed with 119 successful tackles, 102 interceptions, and 68 clearances. In attack, he made 38 successful dribbles and completed 24 accurate crosses.
French reports say Pied will make a decision on his future when he returns from his holiday.
