Sunderland have rekindled their interest in Swansea City star Andre Ayew, says the Sunderland Echo.
The versatile attacker signed for the Swans last summer, arriving on a free from Ligue 1 giants, Marseille.
The 26-year-old proved to be an instant hit at the Liberty Stadium, scoring on his debut against Chelsea, netting against Newcastle in his second game and then going on to scoring the winning goal in the Swans’ 2-1 home victory over Manchester United last August.
Since August, Ayew’s contributions brought nine goals, as he finished as the club’s top scorer, with 12 goals acquired for the Welsh side in an impressive maiden season in the Premier League.

Sam Allardyce showed interest in the Ghanaian international back in January, but had a £10 million bid rejected by Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin, who looked to keep hold of Ayew with the Swans in the relegation battle.
After Swansea’s survival, Ayew could now be set to leave South Wales this summer with many clubs believed to be pursuing his signature. A £15 million bid could let the Ghana captain depart the Liberty Stadium.
The Black Cats are looking for an attacking midfielder/winger in the summer transfer window, and Ayew fits both of them descriptions.
