Sunderland fans have yet again endured a poor season, with the Black Cats pulling off their annual escape from relegation. Sam Allardyce was the latest man to pull the Black Cats away from relegation and all fans will be hoping for a change in fortunes in the future.
Next season looks as though it could be different with Big Sam at the helm and with his attack-minded style of play, we may finally avoid all the early season heartbreak. Most of the clubs Big Sam has managed throughout his career he has liked playing with a big centre forward to lump the ball to and flick on to smaller pacey players like Jermain Defoe. Now we are safe and ready to spend the money we have been given it looks like Sunderland could once again be ready to play with a big man and a little finisher.

Allardyce seems like he wants to get to work early on rebuilding our squad and that could be a top priority with us already being rumoured with summer swoops for Diafra Sakho, Andre Ayew and Edin Dzeko. These are good targets, and make a change from the usual average championship goalscorers we are used to and it is thankfully showing that the club is trying to move forward. If we could capture a player of this standard in that position we could be looking at a return of the Quinn Phillips era of the Peter Reid years. With wingers like Jeremain Lens and Wahbi Khazri, as well as out and out strikers such as Fabio Borini and Defoe, this squad could grow to be feared and help turn the Stadium of Light back into the fortress it once was fifteen years ago.
