According to TalkSPORT, Sunderland are reportedly looking to sign Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
Gomis signed for Swansea in 2014, and did not meet expectations, only scoring 13 goals in 64 appearances for the Welsh outfit, scoring seven goals in 33 appearances last season.
Gomis has fallen down the pecking order at Swansea.Andre Ayew, another player targeted by Sunderland was chosen ahead of him in most games, and had a better work rate.
Sunderland face a fight with Marseille in Ligue 1 for the striker, with the 30-year-old possibly wanting a return to his home country after having little success in the Premier League.
Sunderland have been informed that a loan deal could be possible for the striker, and this would be the best deal for them, as they are in need of attacking players.
Marseille may not be able to match the wages that he wants, which leaves Sunderland as a possible option for his transfer.
