Sam Allardyce has left Sunderland after nine months at the club , helping them avoid the drop to the Championship in his short-spell.
Allardyce, who has managed Newcastle, West Ham and Bolton, was interviewed by the FA earlier this week and was chosen ahead of Hull City boss Steve Bruce.
Both Hull City and Sunderland issued a statement on their websites urging the FA to act quickly in their pursuit of a new manager , with the Premier League only three weeks away. Big Sam has never won a major trophy but he has helped two clubs to promotion from the championship , West Ham and Bolton Wanderers. He has also won the old division three with Notts county in the late 90s.
Allardyce started his playing career at Bolton in the 70s, he enjoyed time at Huddersfield , Millwall , West Brom and Coventry, ending his career at Preston.
There is a lot of scepticism at the appointment of Sam Allardyce on his tactics and his negative football , West Ham fans did not like his brand of football , and was sacked from West Ham last Year.
Allardyce was chosen by chief executive Martin Glen, technical director Dan Ashworth and David Gill , who all were wanting a strong minded manager who can build a clear team and have a clear plan.
The FA will have to discuss a compensation package with Sunderland , with Allardyce still having a year on his contract.
Sunderland will now have to look for a new manager former Manchester United and Everton boss David Moyes is one of the favourites to be the next Sunderland manager. There has also been rumours that Burnley boss Sean Dyche is reported to be a favourite.
Sam Allardyce will take his first game on the 4th of September against Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier match.
