Sunderland remain keen on signing last season’s loan star Yann M’Vila despite a series of setbacks in their pursuit of the Frenchman.
M’Vila has been a key target since the end of the last season, and despite a change in manager, the Black Cats remain hopeful in completing a permanent deal for the French International.
A deal has been far from straightforward, with Sam Allardyce departing the club and a series of ongoing issues in negotiations between Sunderland and Rubin Kazan. According to the Sunderland Echo, the Russian club are believed to have slapped a £5-million price tag on the 26-year-old; a fee that appears a bit steep for a player who has just six months remaining on his deal in Russia.
The French midfielder was a target for new Sunderland manager David Moyes during his final season at Everton, before the Scot took charge at Manchester United.

Sunderland, yet to make a summer signing, could potentially wait until M’Vila is a free agent in January but would then risk other clubs beating them to his signature, with the player sought after throughout Europe.
