New Sunderland manager David Moyes was unveiled to the media today as he begins to make his mark on Wearside during his first day at the Academy of Light.
Moyes has identified Manchester United duo Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini as two of his top targets in the coming weeks and he looks to add quality to a threadbare Sunderland side.
Januzaj has had a sharp fall from grace since bursting onto the scene as a teenager under Moyes at Old Trafford, however, his quality is still there and there is no doubt that he would offer Sunderland fresh creativity at the top of the park. Now 21, Januzaj is looking for a fresh challenge having seen first-team opportunities limited in Manchester. When asked whether he would like to bring the pair to Sunderland, Moyes said:
“If anyone of those players want to join us, I would be happy to have them because they are excellent players. We are interested, but I am sure a host of other clubs are too.”
Another name who Moyes has expressed an interest in is Marouane Fellaini, who the Scot knows very well. The strong midfielder has been signed by Moyes twice, at both Everton and Manchester United, amassing a total of £42.5-million in transfer fees. A physical attacking midfielder, Fellaini would be a perfect fit to fill one of many problem positions in the Sunderland squad.

A move for the Belgian midfield duo is a statement of intent from the new Sunderland manager, however, with what is understood to be a limited budget and strict wage structure at Sunderland, a move could be some way off yet.
