Yann M’Vila has signed a four-year contract with Sunderland, with the club set to confirm the transfer imminently should complications on Rubin Kazan’s become sorted.
He may become David Moyes’ second signing after Papy Djilobodji arrived from Chelsea on Friday evening.
M’Vila joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan from Rubin Kazan last summer and became a crucial part of the Sunderland midfield – scoring a cracking free kick at Aston Villa in one of his 40 appearances.
It has been no secret that the Frenchman wanted to return to Wearside, or that the club wanted the Frenchman to return, but the managerial uncertainty has made transfer progress difficult.
The 26-year-old only had six months remaining on his contract with Kazan but the Russian club weren’t going to let him go cheaply – despite the fact that he reportedly earned £100,000 per week and was training by himself.
David Moyes scouted M’Vila during his Everton days and will no doubt be delighted to welcome the midfielder back to the Stadium of Light.
M’Vila has been eager to return to Sunderland and if the clubs can agree terms for a fee then M’Vila shall arrive on Wearside this summer. However, if not, M’Vila will join the club on a free transfer in January, with the Frenchman agreeing a contract in principle.
