Sunderland have reportedly reignited their interest in Diafra Sakho after his move to West Brom fell through last week due to a suspected failed medical, according to the Northern Echo.
West Brom had agreed a deal with West Ham worth £16m for the Senegal international, with £10m to be paid in full with another £6m in add-ons from performance-based clauses.
The player had agreed personal terms with the Midlands-based club and took a medical on Wednesday evening. It’s understood that the Baggies were waiting on scan results Thursday morning before confirming the move, but ended up pulling the plug on the deal completely, raising eyebrows that perhaps they were given some troubling news following the scan results.

Sunderland were interested in Sakho when Sam Allardyce was manager prior to taking the England job, and had two bids rejected for the former FC Metz striker, the latest offer worth £12m.
Now Sunderland have an idea of the kind of deal they need to offer in order to secure Sakho’s services this summer and are now readying a third offer.
Sakho has handed in a transfer request and is eager to leave West Ham and perhaps the Hammers would now consider taking a lesser deal to force a move.
