Star Sunderland duo linked with moves away

Sunderland players Younes Kaboul and Jeremain Lens have both been linked with moves away from the Stadium of Light this summer.

According to the Sunderland Echo, Premier League rivals Watford are interested in signing centre back Younes Kaboul on a three year deal.

The 30-year-old only joined the Black Cats for £3 million last season but has been a stalwart in the Sunderland defence – with his partnership alongside Lamine Kone playing a large part in Sunderland’s survival last season.

Despite suffering a few injury niggles since leaving Tottenham, the Frenchman has a guaranteed future on Wearside and David Moyes is not planning on letting the “bull” of Sunderland’s defence leave.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Fenerbahce could make a move for midfielder Jeremain Lens – if former Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat is appointed as their new boss as expected.

The Turkish club sacked Vítor Pereira and are looking at the former Netherlands assistant to succeed him – despite Advocaat insisting his club career was finished when he resigned from Sunderland.

Advocaat brought Lens to the Stadium of Light last summer, after the winger went through his most successful season under his countryman at PSV. After falling out of favour under Sam Allardyce, it looked like Lens would depart this summer.

That might still happen as new manager David Moyes has made no indication of the future of Lens, but he will be reluctant to sell anyone until additions are made to the Black Cats’ current squad.
