Sunderland AFC have confirmed the departure of midfielder Jordi Gomez, who has signed for Wigan Athletic on a permanent deal.
The Spanish midfielder joins Wigan on a one-year deal and will look to help The Latics to have a successful campaign in the Sky Bet Championship.
Gomez joined The Black Cats from Wigan in the summer of 2014 and has gone on to play a bit-part role with the squad under a selection of managers over the past two years.

The 31-year-old managed just 39 first-team appearances for Sunderland and, in the process, he scored an underwhelming six goals.
Sunderland fans will largely remember him for their 2-1 victory at home to Southampton in 2015, as Gomez managed to strike twice from the penalty spot to seal an important win for his side.
Gomez underwent a medical last night and the move was confirmed this morning. He will be in contention for Wigan’s next match against Nottingham Forest.
