Sunderland have a massive opportunity on Wednesday evening to get back to winning ways and take back some confidence as they welcome League One side Shrewsbury Town to the Stadium of Light.
A boost is massively needed for Sunderland. They currently sit on zero points in the Premier League after losing their opening two fixtures 2-1 to both Manchester City and Middlesbrough, most recently.
However, they will be hoping that the goals flow and the team cohesion develops as they take on 20th placed League One outfit Shrewsbury.
Although David Moyes is likely to utilise the current crop of youngsters in this match, it’s highly likely that a fair few of the first-team will still have some involvement to boost their fitness and get back into the swing of things ahead of Saturday’s massive game away at Southampton in the Premier League.

Shrewsbury do, however, despite their poor start to the campaign a couple divisions down, head into the game off the back of a 2-1 win over Chesterfield, so they will be out to continue their winning ways with a massive upset.
There are no fresh injury worries for Sunderland apart from John O’Shea, who was taken off in the first half against Boro on Saturday with a groin problem.
Fabio Borini is set to miss out with a minor toe injury, whilst Lamine Kone is claimed to be carrying a back injury and has since been banned from club activity.
Regardless of who plays on the night, a massive performance would not go a miss from Sunderland and they should be comfortably sweeping aside this Shrewsbury side.
