According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland have rejected the chance to sign Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho on loan.
News broke this morning that Jurgen Klopp was eager to send the French international out on loan in a bid to get him back in football shape and play regularly each week.
The Reds have signed Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip this summer, both of whom are fit and ready to play for Klopp’s side.

At the end of the last season, Sakho was involved in a performing enhancing drugs saga which saw him suspended from football activity which was later overturned over the summer but it did cost him his place in France’s Euro 2016 squad.
Sunderland have been struggling at the back in recent years but David Moyes has made a bid to rectify that by bringing in Donald Love and Paddy McNair from Manchester United, Papy Djilobodji from Chelsea while a deal to sign Javier Maquillo from Atletico Madrid on loan is also nearing completion.
A player of Sakho’s quality and experience you’d think would’ve been a great addition to the squad this summer but Moyes believes that Djilobodji will occupy the left centre-back role Sakho plays in, deeming Sakho’s arrival unnecessary.
