According to an emerging tweet from Sunderland Echo journalist Richard Mennear and a report from the Sunderland Echo themselves this afternoon, Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens is closing in on a switch to Fenerbahce.

This business can quite easily be perceived as massively bizarre on Sunderland’s part, given that Lens has only been at the club for a year and was brought in for a sizable fee.

Although he has failed to fulfill expectations at the Stadium of Light in his maiden season with the club, Lens has undoubted talent and is a good attacking outlet to have available to David Moyes.
The loan switch to Fenerbahce would mean that the Dutchman would link up with his fellow countryman and former Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat once more; this is sure to have been a decisive factor in Lens’ proposed switch to the Turkish league.
It’s claimed that Lens will fly out tomorrow to seal his switch to Fenerbahce for the coming season.
