Spurs midfielder agrees Sunderland terms

According to reports today from the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur’s English midfielder Ryan Mason has agreed a deal in principle with Sunderland over a permanent move to the North-East.

The 25-year-old has agreed a deal worth £40,000 per week on Wearside and is keen on the move as he searches for first-team football. Mason, who has an English cap to his name, has spoke to Hull City about a potential move but it is thought that he prefers a move to David Moyes’ side.

Mason has over 150 club appearances to his name, as well as European and International experience. The former Doncaster Rovers loanee scored against Sunderland last season during a 1-0 victory on Wearside.

The England international broke into Tottenham’s first-team under Pochettino during the 2014-15 season, before signing a five-and-a-half-year deal at the club in January 2015, but it is believed that Mason now see’s his future away from White Hart Lane as first-team opportunities become more limited.

David Moyes is expected to be busy in the final days of the transfer window, with negotiations ongoing with Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra, Manchester City’s goalkeeper Joe Hart and fan-favourite Yann M’Vila.
