Sunderland are hoping to take Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart on a season-long loan, according to a report from Sky Sports.
The England goalkeeper has been told that he is free to leave City after Pep Guardiola brought in Claudio Bravo, and it looks like a loan move is the most likely outcome with such the transfer window set to close in just a few days.
However, there are two major hurdles for the Black Cats in terms of getting the 29-year-old to move to the Stadium of Light for the remainder of the season.

Firstly, Sunderland couldn’t afford to pay Hart’s wages, so City would have to subsidise them, which they are apparently willing to do.
Secondly, and perhaps more importantly. Hart would need to agree to the move.
He’s apparently looking to join a team playing in the Champions League, so it appears that the only way Sunderland could get him for the season is if interest from elsewhere does not lead to any bids. In which case, he could very well opt for a switch to the North East rather than chose to sit on City’s bench for the year.
