Sunderland AFC have today confirmed the signing of Gabon international midfielder Didier Ndong for a club record transfer fee believed to be worth up to £17-million.
The signing of Ndong, for an initial £13.5-million, is sure to be a massive boost to The Black Cats and their fans, given the lack of movement in regards to transfers as of late, with Ndong signing a five-year deal on Wearside.
The arrival of the midfielder will also be a boost when it comes to quality and in squad depth due to the severe lack of midfield options available to David Moyes this season, as a result of an injury crisis throughout the whole squad predominantly affecting the midfield.
The 22-year-old is a combative midfielder that will provide energy, technical ability and work ethic to the Sunderland side; something that will prove invaluable in what could prove to be a long season for Moyes’ men.
Ndong earned many plaudits for his excellent performances with Lorient in Ligue 1 last season and is a massive signing for Sunderland.
