According to an emerging report this morning from GFFN, who have quoted French news outlet Foot Mercato, Sunderland have made an approach for Marseille winger Romain Alessandrini.
The Frenchman has fallen slightly out of favour at the Ligue 1 club and, at 27-years-old, he may seek another challenge elsewhere from in his homeland.
The report claims that Marseille have not given their valuation as to how much they would allow Alessandrini to depart the club for, but that Sunderland have enquired over his availability and are interested in making a late move for the Frenchman to add another attacking outlet to their squad.
A winger could be needed at the Stadium of Light after Jeremain Lens’ departure for a season long loan to Fenerbahce was confirmed, leaving Sunderland even lighter in their attacking options.
Alessandrini has built a reputation in Ligue 1 for his blistering pace and movement but is yet to live up to the high expectations set of him from his earlier days.
