According to a report from GFFN in the early hours of the morning, Sunderland are claimed to have made an approach for Saint-Etienne defender Florentin Pogba.
The 26-year-old, brother of Manchester United new boy Paul Pogba, has been impressing in recent seasons in Ligue 1 for his defensive displays and it has clearly caught the eye of clubs from the Premier League.
The report claims that David Moyes’ side are not the only club in England courting Pogba today, though. It is claimed that, along with Sunderland, Hull have also made an approach to bring the powerful centre-back to the Premier League before the window slams shut.
It’s also stated within GFFN’s report that, although the English top flight duo hold an interest in the Guinean international defender, Saint-Etienne will only be open to selling Pogba if they are to bring in at least two central defenders today; something that could prove to be fairly unlikely, despite their desire to add one more to the squad.
Sunderland are seriously lacking in depth ahead of a potentially long and hard season, so a new centre-back to challenge Lamine Kone and new boy Papy Djilobodji would certainly be a smart move.
Pogba has represented his country Guinea on 13 occasions since his first call-up in 2010.
