This Sunday, 18th of September, Sunderland will travel to Spurs, White Hart Lane, having already amounted a terrible record in the league by losing four out of their five opening Premier League games, in what seems like, yet, another groundhog day season. The poor start, coupled with some underwhelming signings in the summer, have pointed towards another season of struggle. However a shock away win at the weekend could be the catalyst for change that Sunderland have been looking for all season. It would amount a valuable win, a valuable three points and a real confidence boost for the morale of the squad.
Spurs, on the other hand, are unbeaten this season and have, in short periods, showed some real class, but equally have looked poor at times and coming off a disappointing home loss to Monaco in the champions league in front of a subdued crowd at Wembley Stadium. So there’s a slither of hope.
