Sunderland picked up their second points of the season today at the Stadium of Light. A 1-1 draw with West Brom allowed Sunderland to climb off the bottom of the premier league and double their points tally for the season.
A much changed back line and changes enforced in midfield seemed to give Sunderland a bit of a boost today. The introduction of John O’Shea into the back line gave Sunderland a much needed leader at the back.
The decision to take Van Aanholt and Djilobodji out worked and gave Sunderland a much more defence minded defence. I know that sentence sounds stupid but in recent weeks it seems those two in particular have been more interested in moving the ball forward than defending properly.
The introduction of Wahbi Khazri back into the starting line up gave Sunderland some much needed quality and guile that they’ve missed in recent weeks. Also we seen a different side to Khazri we seen him more willing to run and track back than what we’ve ever seen before.
