Sunderland travelled to Stoke on Saturday,with both teams looking for their first win of the season.
What followed was disappointing and uninspiring even for Sunderland standards. 8 minutes into the match, Sunderland found themselves a goal down and while control may have been regained after conceding, we never really created any real chances. Nevertheless going in 1-0 down at half time felt recoverable. Then in stoppage time at the end of the first half, Stoke and Joe Allen got their second goal. All of a sudden any hopes of a second half recovery were dashed.
David Moyes must have delivered a flat team talk at half time, as Sunderland came out with no fire in the belly and the second half flew by, with Sunderland mustering just a single shot on target.
As much as David Moyes tried defend his players, in truth, even half decent performances were few and far between. So let’s get to the ratings
