1,500 loyal Sunderland fans take the long trip to Southampton on Wednesday to watch their side in the cup game. That deserves respect.
However, like us the travelling fans will be hoping not to see certain things in the game and will be hoping for a win to make that long journey back to Wearside a little easier.
With Newcastle progressing in the same cup against Preston North End, the pressure is on David Moyes to get the first win since the last round of the EFL cup.
The manager has already stated he will be resting big names like John O’shea, therefore it may be an even younger side than usual facing Southampton, who no doubt will not be taking this game lightly at all. After all, it’s the first chance of some silverware, which is rare for teams outside the top four.
