Sunderland winger Chemsdine Talbi is nearing a move to Al-Ittihad.
The 21-year-old was recently omitted from the club’s European squad list. Advanced discussions with the four-time Saudi Pro League champions continue. Talbi arrived at the Stadium of Light last summer for £18million.
Shifting Towards Tactical Balance Out Wide
Manager Régis Le Bris has overhauled his wide options. The £30million deadline-day capture of Malick Fofana restricted opportunities further. Le Bris prefers a balanced system relying heavily on versatile wing-backs. This specific tactical shift rendered the Moroccan playmaker surplus to requirements. Sunderland recently secured their central attacking core, highlighted when striker Wilson Isidor extended terms. However, finding the right wide rotation remains crucial for Le Bris.
Leaving The Transfer Door Open Now
The head coach acknowledged the situation when questioned about his squad. Speaking to The Northern Echo, he confirmed an exit was “possible”. He told the publication: “Yes, a move remains possible, so it’s important to respect both parties.”
Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also monitoring the forward. Their domestic transfer window shuts on Friday, demanding swift action. The Saudi market allows incoming deals until the middle of October. Al-Ittihad are aiming to secure the youngster ahead of that deadline. Sunderland return to action against Hull City in the Carabao Cup tonight.
