Don’t blame the linesman- Lens

Midfielder Jermain Lens will not blame the officials for Sunderland’s defeat at the hands of Bournemouth this weekend. He had a legitimate goal ruled out for offside, a goal that could have completely changed the contrast of the game. The linesman said that he was in an offside position when Yann M’Vila swung in a cross, however, replay’s have shown this was not the case.

Lens instead blames Sunderland’s sluggish start to the game for their 2-0 loss, and not the linesman’s poor decisions. The key moment came in the 53rd minute, at which point Sunderland were fighting hard to overcome the two-goal deficit that they trailed by.

Lens has scored once for the club since signing from Dynamo Kyiv in the summer. The Black Cats, who currently sit bottom of the premier league, will be hoping to make amends for this defeat when they host Manchester United next weekend.
