Sunderland play host to Chelsea in the Black Cats penultimate home game of the season. Sunderland have lost just one game in their last eight, albeit only winning 1 as well with a 3-0 victory over Norwich. The most recent result was a 1-1 draw away at Stoke, where Sunderland somehow salvaged a draw with a 94th-minute penalty, after a poor performance.
Chelsea enter the game on the back of a 2-2 draw against Tottenham, with the result allowing Leicester the title. Coming back from 2-0 down against a very strong Tottenham side is a worry for Sunderland this weekend. After a poor start to the season, Chelsea have looked a much higher threat since the sacking of Mourinho, and the appointment of Hiddink.
A crucial game for Sunderland with Newcastle being a point ahead of them, means a positive result against last season’s champions is nearly essential.
Here is our predicted XI for this weekend’s tie.
