Manchester City 2-1 Sunderland – Who was your MOTM?

Sunderland began their 2016/17 campaign with arguably the hardest test possible as they visited a new-look Manchester City on the opening day of the season.

Things couldn’t have started any worse as Patrick van Aanholt’s reckless tackle led to City being rewarded with an early penalty which was calmly dispatched by Sergio Aguero.

However, this did not stop David Moyes’ men from showing tremendous spirit to fight back and their efforts paid dividends as Jermain Defoe excellently finished to level the scoring.

In the closing stages of the game, though, The Black Cats were desperately unlucky as Paddy McNair was unfortunate to turn the ball into his own net to send Sunderland packing with nothing to show for their efforts and leaving City with a considerably lucky 2-1 victory.

Take our duel to have your say as to who you thought was Sunderland’s man of the match in yesterday’s defeat!
