Lens takes parting shot at Sunderland ahead of loan move

As he closes in on a move to Turkey in a loan switch that will see him play for Fenerbahce this season, Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens has claimed that the club simply could not wait to see the back of him, the Sunderland Echo have reported.

I did not play (under Sam Allardyce), was not even on the bench. I just had a problem with the club. What? No idea. Sunderland would just love to get rid of me.

Lens is set to undergo a medical with Fenerbahce tomorrow ahead of a season-long loan move to the Turkish League giants.

Tomorrow I will undergo the medical examination. I do not expect any problems. I’m looking forward to it. It’s a nice transfer. Fenerbahce is a great club and a great challenge.

The move away from the Stadium of Light comes as a bit of a surprise, given David Moyes’ limited options in attack and given that he was signed in a £8-million deal just last summer.

The Netherlands international is set to reunite with former Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat out in Turkey.

I have a good relationship with Dick, but he also knows my qualities. It is not that he is doing me a favour.

Lens came on against Southampton at the weekend and appeared to have a positive impact down the right-hand side, causing the hosts plenty of problems and catching the eye.

I did not find it strange that I was missing the last couple of times in the national squad. It was understandable because I was not playing.
