- Brian Brobbey joined Sunderland last summer
- Has impressed with his physicality
- Bayern Munich interested in striker
Sunderland will not want to lose Brian Brobbey this summer, but one of Europe’s biggest clubs could provide them with a dilemma.
Brian Brobbey only joined Sunderland last September, but he has already had heads turning since his move to the Premier League.
The centre forward has registered six goals and an assist in the English top flight, but his movement and physical presence have been his most impressive attributes.
Brobbey was in the spotlight a lot on Sunday as Sunderland beat Tottenham and his dominant displays have caught the attention of a European supergiant.
Bayern Munich are interested in Brobbey
According to the Independent, Bayern Munich are looking to sign Brobbey this summer after monitoring his start to life in the North East.
The 24-year-old was signed as part of Sunderland’s analytics-based recruitment model, which is clearly working well.
Brobbey joined the Black Cats in a deal worth just over £20m and they could receive double that amount if Bayern act on their ‘strong interest’.
Sunderland could persuade Brobbey not to pursue a move
With Brobbey contracted to Sunderland until 2030, the club are well within their rights to reject any summer offers.
However, there is always a chance the striker would not react well to this. After all, a move to Bayern Munich is the kind of chance which only comes around every so often.
Still, the Bundesliga club have Harry Kane, a player who realistically is never going to be dropped from the starting lineup.
As a result, Brobbey’s chances at Bayern might be limited, which Sunderland could use to their advantage.
Sunderland also have the chance to profit on Noah Sadiki
Brobbey is not the only player being linked with a move away from the Stadium of Light after a single season.
Indeed, Noah Sadiki is attracting interest from Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
This means Sunderland could earn a small fortune this summer, but only if they are willing to sell two of their prized assets.
