Sunderland’s first win of the season came in spectacular style, a 3-0 victory over local rivals Newcastle lifted them off the bottom of the table and above the Magpies.
After an afternoon of fury surrounding referee Martin Atkinson at last weekend’s defeat at The Hawthorns, it can be said Sunderland were treated a little more nicely over this weekend’s derby (thankfully).
It gave the Sunderland fans bragging rights yet again, with 6 derbies being won consecutively, scoring 11 within those matches and conceding only 1.
Sam Allardyce will also be a happy man after getting Sunderland’s first three points, at beginning his career on home turf with style.
