Allardyce eyes English full-back

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is eyeing a summer swoop for Crystal Palace defender Martin Kelly according to the Daily Mirror.

Big Sam is in the market for a defender and Kelly could be the man to fill the problematic full-back position. A fee in the region of £2.5-million has been quoted for Kelly and it remains to be seen whether Allardyce views this price tag as value for money.

Kelly, who can operate at both full-back and centre-half, is entering his final year of his three-year stint at Selhurst park following a £2-million move from boyhood club Liverpool, who he made 62 appearances for.

Reports already claim an £11million offer has been made to West Ham United for Senegalese striker Diafra Sakho, as the Wearside outfit aim to learn from previous years’ mistakes and get their business done early.
